As 2018 comes to a close, I had a wonderful year filled with new to me travel destinations! I went to Punta Cana and to Thailand for the first time. Here is my top 7 travel destinations for 2019! Are you planning on going to any of these destinations? Where do you plan on traveling in 2019?

Belize

One of my top picks for 2019 is Belize. There are many nonstop flights from the US to Belize. Belize offers incredible historic sites as well as pristine beaches. Belize has amazing diving opportunities including cave diving. This is a fantastic destination that a lot of cruise lines visit but it is worth staying in the country for at least a week!

Normandy, France

This year marks the 75th anniversary of D-day. The historic landing happened on June 6, 1944. If you are looking to pay your respects on this day, it is highly recommended to book as soon as possible. Normandy is a very small town and only has so many hotel properties. You may want to do a small guided tour out of Paris. However if you decide to stay in the area,  Normandy does have wineries, chateaux and cathedrals to admire.

Egypt

I know Egypt is on my bucket list for 2019. I know there is concern for safety for Egypt, however the US government states to use caution when traveling and to travel with a reputable company. I know Insight Vacations offers a fantastic Egyptian itinerary. Egypt is a destination that will become a must do for a lot of US travelers so it is good to get ahead of the game while the prices are low!

Boston, Mass

Boston is a great place to visit during the spring and or summer time. Fall brings a lot of tourism due to the gorgeous foliage. In the summer, you can enjoy a game at the historic Fenway Park. There is also some great unusual things to see and do in Boston, such as Bodega (a upscale clothing store hidden behind a old Snapple machine in the back of a deli), Edgar Allen Poe Square, hang out on Lawn D (a green space that features a beer hall, lawn games and swings in the summertime). There is also plenty of fabulous places to eat and drink!

Scotland

Scotland is on my personal “to do” list because it is where my paternal grandfather is from. I want to immerse myself in the culture and the landscape of my “homeland”. With new whiskey and gin distilleries popping up, storybook trail sites and fantastic sporting events, Scotland offers something for all interests.

Prague

The extraordinarily beautiful city of Prague awaits you in the spring! Yes, it is cold but spring is a great time to visit without the hordes of tourists. Visiting in March or April will allow you to see the awesome architecture of the city without a million other tourists trying to capture the same moments as you. Walk across Charles Bridge for breathtaking views or visit the largest ancient castle in the world, Prague Castle. Also, do not leave the city without enjoying a traditional Czech brew with a smazeny syr (fried cheese served with french fries!)

Houston, TX

Yes, I included my hometown. There is a lot of buzz happening in my fair city! Houston was recently named GQ magazine’s “New Capital of Southern Cool” (step aside, Austin). Houston is great for a nice relaxing 4-5 day getaway. We have world class museums and a pretty fantastic zoo. Also, amazing food. I can’t tell you how many times I have come home from travels abroad and I cannot wait to get my hands on some local Houstonian TexMex. Come on down, enjoy some fabulous tacos, VietCajun crawfish and enjoy our culture, Texas style!
