London is a great destination at any time of the year. With such a big, busing city it can be difficult to prioritize your time, so to help I have listed my top 5 things to do in London!

Be a Tourist!

Yes, you must hit up the “touristy” things. I think one of the coolest things I saw while in London was the Tower of London; I spent hours there. I love history and of course, London has a very colorful past. Don’t forget to visit Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. While there, pick a lesser known or less popular museum. We chose the Churchill War Rooms which was fascinating!

Get out of the city!

You are not very far from Bath, Stonehenge, Windsor or Stafford-upon-Avon. When I last visited London, I took a tour that went to Stonehenge and Bath. It is a full day away from the city, so if you do not want to take a full day away, I would recommend seeing Windsor. However, the historic city of Bath is is quaint, it is worth the drive out into the country. Also, you have to stop by Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House and Museum.  They are most known for their Bath Bun which is close to a 300 year old recipe. It may even be worth it to you to spend a night out in Bath to fully enjoy this quaint city.

Make time to see London Theater!

I have seen two shows in London and it is such a fun and exciting experience taking in a well known theatre production in London. I strongly recommend booking your theatre tickets well in advance to secure the seats and the shows you wish to see.

Do as the locals do!

When my friend and I went to London a few years ago, her cousin who lived in London told us about Gordon’s Wine Bar. This was in a back alleyway that was very unassuming. It was absolutely packed in there. We were lucky to find a table outside. My friend went inside and ordered some wine and a little appetizer for us and it was a wonderful place to take in the nightlife. It is the oldest wine bar in London, built in 1890. The bar is still managed to stay pretty much the same since its opening. The decor is the same and they only sell wine. You will not find a pint here!

Get Indian Food

Yes, go enjoy your fish and chips, but go get Indian Food while in London! London has some beautiful cuisine and Indian food is one of their biggest draws. Yes, go visit the beautiful historic pubs like the  Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub (while you are there, get a pint and some sticky toffee pudding) but go find some fantastic hole in the wall Indian joint. You will not be disappointed!

Take the number 11 bus and sit upstairs. It takes you past attractions like Trafalgar Square, Horse Guards Parade, Houses of Parliament.
