New Zealand should be on everyone’s bucket list! This beautiful country is full of natural wonders, picturesque beaches, and friendly people. Here are my to “secret” things to do in New Zealand!

Auckland

In Auckland, if you enjoy sailing, you have a great opportunity to sail your own America’s Cup Yacht. This is a fantastic once in a lifetime opportunity to test your sea legs while you sail along the Waitemata Harbor. Also in Auckland, to understand and know the people of New Zealand, it is important to visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Cape Reinga

Enjoy the incredible beauty of the Bay of Islands and then take a scenic flight to Cape Reinga. Cape Reinga is where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific ocean in an incredible swirl of currents. The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is the most important historical marker in the country. It is the site where the treaty between the Maori people and the English was signed.

Akaroa

The South Island is your gateway to phenomenal food, wine, history and scenic views. There are some fantastic short getaways just a short drive from Christchurch. Akaroa is a beautiful French colonial style town just a hour and a half drive away from Christchurch.

Marlborough

In the Marlborough region, you can visit the various wineries in and around Blenheim. One of the major hiking attractions is the Queen Charlotte Track. If you have some time to spend here, stay at the Bay of Many Coves resort. If you cannot take the time to stay the night, enjoy the views, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and some green lipped mussels.

Nelson

Nelson is where the Kiwis go to play. It is the sunniest region in New Zealand and has weather similar to Southern California. Nelson is located on the edge of the Abel Tasman National Park. The park is home to beautiful golden beaches, and has hiking, kayaking and fishing opportunities.
