Are you looking to escape the big city for a week? Take the kids out of town for a relaxing week? Here are my top 5 destinations to travel to out of Houston for Spring Break week!

Grapevine, TX

Book your stay at the Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark. Enjoy the indoor waterpark, great for kids of all ages. There are several things to do nearby as well, such as the Sea Life Aquarium or the Legoland Discovery Center. The historic Main Street area has adorable boutique shops and cafes to shop until you drop. Grapevine near Dallas is a great mini-escape for the whole family to enjoy.

Gulf Shores, AL

Gulf Shores is about an 8 hour drive from Houston. Gulf Shores has beautiful beaches. Rent some jet skis or hobie cats and enjoy the day out on the water. The freshest seafood can be enjoyed in Gulf Shores. Take in some great fresh shrimp, great live music, and let the kids play at LuLu’s. Check out over 500 species of wildlife at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. There are fantastic animal encounters that your little ones will never forget!

Big Bend National Park

It is a bit of a long drive but the drive is about as long as driving to Gulf Shores. The drive can be broken up to go to San Antonio for a day or so the kids are a little more refreshed. The park is of course massive and there are so many trails, caverns, and canyons that will excite your nature loving kids! There are some fantastic lodging options, tent, trailer or cabins, you are sure to be comfortable and it fits all budget types.

Cruise out of Galveston

There are several options now out of Galveston for cruises. Carnival and Royal Caribbean offer 4, 5 or 7 day options out of Galveston. Both Cruise lines offer itineraries to Mexico, Eastern and Western Caribbean. Cruises are fantastic Spring Break options, you can unpack once and enjoy your floating hotel.

Stay-cation

There are so many great things happening in Houston during Spring Break. Rodeo will keep the kids busy during the day. Of course, we have our world-class zoo, NASA, and plenty of museums to experience during their mini vacation. Discovery Green Park usually has a variety of fun activities to enjoy. As well as the many parks in the city to climb, jump and run about!
